Directions

Make the puff pastry:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle (if you haven’t already).
Add the filling:
Spread a thin layer of mustard over the puff pastry (optional).
Arrange the ham slices evenly over the mustard.

Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the prosciutto.
Sprinkle the cheese with dried herbs, if desired.
Roll and slice:
Roll the dough tightly from one side of the long side to the other, until it forms a roll.
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
Assemble and bake:
Place the rolls flat-side down on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches (5 cm) apart.
Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and golden.
Serve:
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
